Restoring a Victorian Terrace in Brighton: A Complete Transformation
Robin · 7 June 2026
How we transformed a tired Victorian terrace into a stunning family home, balancing period character with contemporary living.
When our clients first viewed this three-bedroom Victorian terrace in the Hanover area of Brighton, they saw past the dated interiors to the potential beneath. Working closely with them, we managed a complete refurbishment that respected the property's heritage while creating a home fit for modern family life.
The Brief
The owners wanted to preserve original features — cornicing, fireplaces, and the beautiful tiled hallway — while opening up the ground floor for contemporary living. A rear extension would provide a kitchen-dining space opening onto the garden.
The Process
Over sixteen weeks, our project management team coordinated structural works, a full rewire, new plumbing, and a sensitive restoration of period details. The kitchen was designed with natural materials — oak, marble, and brass — to complement the Victorian aesthetic.
The Result
The finished home is a masterclass in sympathetic restoration. Original sash windows were overhauled rather than replaced, the staircase was stripped back to reveal beautiful pitch pine, and every room tells a story of careful, considered design.
